Heavy Duty Shield Anchor (Rawl Bolt) – Product Details

JMIKS Fasteners supplies heavy duty shield anchors, also known as rawl bolts, in mild steel and stainless steel. This three-piece anchor grips concrete and most types of masonry, and is used for heavy fixings such as machinery, shutters and structural fixtures.

How It Works

3 piece anchor, also known as a rawl bolt.
The cone side is inserted into the drilled hole.
When the hexagon bolt or nut is tightened, the three segments held by a spring ring slide over the tapered nut and grip the concrete.
For use in concrete and most types of masonry, including overhead and ceiling work.

Rawl Bolt Types

Shield anchors come in two styles. In the projecting bolt type, a threaded stud with a nut sticks out of the anchor. In the loose bolt type, a hex bolt passes through the fixture into the shield, so the fixture can be removed later.

Applications

  • Installing heavy equipment and machinery
  • Fixing barriers, roller shutters, fire doors and switchgear
  • Overhead and ceiling work
  • Cable trays, ducting and trunking
  • Partitions and structural fixtures

Rawl Bolt FAQs

Why is it called a rawl bolt?

Rawlbolt started as a brand name for this type of shield anchor. In India the name is now widely used for any three or four-piece shield anchor.

Can rawl bolts be used in brick walls?

Yes. Shield anchors suit concrete and most types of solid masonry. Avoid hollow blocks, and keep enough distance from the edge of the wall.

Rawl bolt or wedge anchor: which should I use?

Both are heavy-duty anchors. Wedge anchors are best in solid concrete. Rawl bolts spread the load through the shield, so they also work in masonry and allow the fixture to be removed.
