How Anti-Theft Bolts Work

The head of an anti-theft bolt is a smooth cone with no flats, slot or socket, so a spanner or screwdriver cannot grip it. The bolt is fitted from one side and tightened with a security nut on the other side, usually a security shear nut whose top breaks off at the set torque. With both ends smooth, the joint cannot be undone with common tools.
